Scratch Mold Workshop
Times: Session 1: 10–11:30am / Session 2: 12–1:30pm
Create your own iron artwork first by making a Scratch Mold. Learn this intuitive process of scratching unique designs into an 8 inch sand mold, from which you’ll create a plaque or medallion in a workshop suitable for students of any skill level. Each mold will later be cast with molten iron during the iron pour demonstration. At the end of the day, take home your one-of-a-kind art. Advance registration required for this workshop.
Price: $50 Members; $65 non-Members. To register, call (609) 586-0616.

The Iron Pour at GFS
Time: 2 – 6pm
Rain Date: Sunday, November 4
GFS began with the Johnson Atelier and its foundry pouring molten metals to create sculpture. Led by artists from the AbOmInOg International Arts Collective of Trenton, we keep the tradition alive using red-hot iron. You’re not just invited to watch, you’re invited to make your own iron art. The handmade furnace roars, crackles, flames, and sparks with power and excitement! Join us for an iron pour demonstration conducted by a team of master foundry sculptors as they heat 500 pounds of iron until it is white hot, then pour it into molds made in the Scratch Mold workshops.
Price: Free with park admission
You may have missed 2011, but there is still time to get involved this November! Check out the photos from last year:
